"Bullying"

Bullying is when someone intimidates another person for no good reason. I am surrounded by bullying every day. Each day when I come to school I always witness another person getting bullied. I do feel bad for not doing anything about it, but I always choose to just stay out of it. I’m not really sure if that makes me a bully also or no, but I try my hardest to not be a bully. I try to not be a bully because I know that some people get really offended by it and can get to the point where they just can’t take it anymore and go crazy. I know from a personal experience how offended some people get by simply being teased by their appearance, personality, or even just by the way they talk.

A few years ago, when I was in 5th grade there was this girl who didn’t have to great of a life. Her family didn’t have much money so she didn’t always have the best clothes and things like that. Due to her family being so hateful, this girl also had a lot of hate inside of her. She would release all of this hate on the people who made fun of her. The main reasons why people made fun of her was because of the way she looked and talked. She was from Texas so she had a light accent, and certain words made it stand out more. She always got made fun of for that reason. Another main reason was because she supposedly had big “rabbit teeth”. When the kids would make fun of her for any of those reasons she would get so mad and sometimes to the point of tears. After a while, she began cutting herself because she just wasn’t satisfied with anything going on in her life, and the teasing surely wasn’t helping. People still never realized how much their teasing was hurting her, so they continued. Finally, the girl and her family moved away.

Now looking back at all of this, I just don’t know how I was ever a part of any of this. Even though I hardly ever made a comment about her, but just the fact that I laughed along makes me feel ashamed of myself. All I can say now is that I hope that girl’s life turned out okay, and that I always try my hardest to not have any part in bullying, even if its just laughing along. In conclusion, all bullying does is harm people, and all together it’s no good and people shouldn’t bully at all.
