"The Bullying Blues"

I’m sure we all heard of the blues as a type of music, but today in our World children across the nation face The Bullying Blues. Why does it happen?, how can it happen?, What type of people would scar other people by bullying!? Those are some of the questions many people ask but they never find out the answer. All human beings have flaws and flaws are what bullies prey on to bring us down. Many kids get victimized and it needs to stop to make the world safer and to stop “The Bullying Blues.” For me, being thirteen and being in a middle school it is a high area were bullies lurk around just waiting for their next victim to hurt, torture and tease.

During the past school year I was instant messaging my friend on the internet. We talked about the average things teenagers talk about like T.V. music and other things. Then I got my friends message and it said, and I quote “Hey Joe you know that loser kid that I tease at school. I just e-mailed him and called him a whole bunch of curse words, It was hilarious I think I made him even cry, knowing him”.

From that point on I was stoned cold because I never though that my friend would do that. I have good judgment in friends and I would never pick a bully as one of my friends. I could imagine the way that kid may have felt, the agony, and the pain of the bullying. I knew that was not nice and I knew I had to put my foot down before it got series because I happened to know that when you’re bullied you feel humiliated, defenseless, and afraid and I knew this could not continue.

My next instant message was to my so called “Friend.’ And I wrote that “it was horrible and disrespectful for you to do that to another human being and if you do not agree with me we could end our friendship.” I left it like that and sent it.

In about five minutes I got an instant message back and it said “Ya Ya I guess you were right I mean I was just teasing him I didn’t think it was that bad. Any way I just instant messaged him and told him I was sorry.” I’m glad you made the right decision. What I learned from this catastrophe was that talking the problem out can fix the problem once and for all whether the issue is bullying or something else.

I think the kid that was getting picked on was very sad and who can blame him because anyone who is being called names would be sad and I would be too if I was being bullied. I think my friend felt cool and he thought he was a big tough guy but now that it is all done and settled and he knows never to bully again.

Bullying is destroying the life and safety of other people through teasing, bullying, hitting, or otherwise “Putting them down,’ is as destructive to themselves as to their victims. All those words I said is what I want you to keep in your mind with you when faced with a bully, remember never get down by “The Bullying Blues!”
