"Are You A Bully?"

When I think about the word bully I think of someone that feels bad about themselves so they have to pick on people to make themselves feel better. Some people can bully by starting rumors about other people, or actually being physical and pushing another person around. Sometimes bullying can take place in groups. A group of bullies could intimidate you.

Sometimes a person might become a bully because of their home life. Maybe they get pushed around by their parents or called names. They might feel like they don't belong. A bully may have older siblings that have made fun of them.

I'm going to talk about a boy who got picked on for little things such as the clothes he wore and his personal features. During school he would get his books knocked out of his hands. He would get pushed into lockers and he was called names. This boy played football so he knew he couldn't fight back. He ignored the bully, but he still gets bullied today because he didn't do anything about it.

These are some of the things the boy could have done to deal with the bullying:
1. Try to ignore the bully.
2. Confront the bully about your feelings.
3. If it gets bad enough, tell a grown-up.
4. If it gets too out of hand the grown-up can talk to the principal or counselor at the school

If you don't want to become a bully, keep reminding yourself of the Golden Rule. The Golden Rule is treating others as you would like to be treated. This will help you socially in the long run. It will help you in relationships and all throughout your life. Being a good person is treating everyone equally no matter what kind of person they are.
