"Look Around That Corner"

Have you ever been bullied? Have you ever had that feeling in your stomach that you knew as soon as you tuned that corner, that bully would be sitting there? That feeling of distraught and sadness just knowing everyday you wake up, that bully will, once again, find delight in torturing you in every possible way they can think of?

Last year, I experienced this kind of torment for quite a long time. It would happen almost everyday-all day. They would try to find just the right time to either ridicule me or put me down (emotionally) in every single way they thought of. Whether it was because I made the highest grade in class, or because I won the big contest at school. It could have even been the fact that I got a new backpack over the weekend. Sometimes you could tell that every word coming from those girls’ mouths was pure jealousy.

Being the victim of this type of situation taught me a lot. I have realized that you can quickly learn who your true friends are. I have learned through experience that teachers can totally change this situation around. I had one teacher that truly turned my situation upside down. She helped me get out my feelings and help me understand why someone would have the desire to bully someone like me.

When I was faced with this, I simply took it in and tried to ignore them as much as possible. I tried to NOT take matters into my own hands and let someone with authority handle it. The girls involved with this got pleasure seeing me in pain and misery. I simply prayed for them in a way that they could see their hateful actions.

Since being in that situation last year, I now make sure to watch out and be aware of the people around me. I have tried to be kind and show a great example for people this year. I have been watching out for bullies and I hate to see people being tormented by them. I continually see bullies walking down the hall just after they crushed someone emotionally. I can only pray that one day they realize what their actions have caused and that someday they see The Light.
